I remember vividly Alice Bubriski striding up and down in front of our History class, slapping her belt in her hand and scolding us about our homework. She was a fantastic teacher, often funny, always demanding, and worth all the work she piled on. Outlining the entire text book seemed abominable at the time, but has helped me countless times over the years,in my work with much younger children, helping them to take notes and organize their thinking--a difficult task for all of us!
