Gerald "Jerry" Lamont Roberts, formerly of Montclair, NJ, passed away on August 15, 2013.  Although Jerry resided in Bloomfield, NJ for over 40 years, he most fondly remembers his formative years in Montclair.  A veteran of the U.S. Navy, he worked many years as an aircraft mechanic for a major commercial airline, traveling extensively while cultivating friendships around the country.  He had a great love of tennis and also played softball for his company team.  Jerry was a gifted card player, excelling at most table games.  An excellent and proficient bowler, he was anchor for several league championship teams.  Jerry is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mira E. Roberts; and sons Lucian G. Roberts and Lyle G. Roberts; grandchildren Mikayla Ball of Tampa, FL and Xander and Kiara Roberts of Orlando, FL.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the United Way of Northern New Jersey, www.unitedwaynnj.org

A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, Aug. 21, at 11 a.m. at Martin's Home for Service, Inc., 48 Elm St., Montclair, N.J. 07042. Visitation will be Tuesday, Aug. 20, from 6 to 8 p.m., and Wednesday at 10 a.m., prior to the service.
