Obituary for Suzanne Stutz Aasbo

Suzanne Veronica Aasbo, a resident of Quogue for more than 40 years, died on May 4 at the Hospice of Northwest Ohio in Toldeo.  She was 70.

Born on July 26, 1942, in Manhattan to George and Janet Stutz, she was the sister of the late David Stutz of Texas.  Ms. Aasbo graduated from Wheaton College and the Teachers College of Columbia University.

A strong proponent of sign language and deaf education, she spent many years teaching nursery and elementary school at St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf.  After living part time in Quogue for many years, she moved there full time in the 1980s.  She was a broker at Norma Reynolds Realty and Prudential Douglas Elliman, and was owner of Tradewinds Real Estate in Quogue.

Survivors said she will be rememeberd for her love, humor, and indomitable spirit.

Ms. Aasbo is survived by two children, Sarah Aasbo and Dr. Johan Aasbo; a daughter-in-law, Abigail Fyten-Aasbo; and grandsons, Soren and Christopher Aasbo.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at 1 p.m. at the Quogue Chapel.  Memorial donationas may be made to St. Francis de Sales School for the Deaf, 260 Eastern Parkway, Brooklyn, NY  11225.
